Inter RAO may build 4th unit at Kharanorsky hydro power plant

MOSCOW, Mar 13 (PRIME) -- The government of Russia’s Zabaikalsky Region is considering building the fourth unit at the 665 megawatt Kharanorsky hydro power plant of power holding Inter RAO, it said in a statement on Tuesday.

Commissioning of new industrial facilities and higher railway cargo traffic will result in the lack of power capacity in the region by 2025. The problem might be solved by launching another unit of the power plant, the statement read.

Inter RAO CEO Boris Kovalchuk said his company may be interested in the project if the region guarantees payback of investment.
